I was starting to pull my hair out getting Windows Live Writer to upload images to Subtext. I was able to upload posts just fine, but when there was an image in the post, it would say that publishing images to my weblog was not supported. In the list of features supported by my weblog, it said that image uploading was supported.
After combing though dozens of blog posts, I found this information. That actually wasn't my problem since I'm not hosting this site with Webhost4life, but it told me that Subtext uses the file system for image storage. Consequently, I realized I had never configured permissions on the images folder. I confirmed this by going into the Subtext administrator menu and trying to upload an image from there:
As you can see in the above image, it clearly states that access to the path was denied. You should be able to look at the path displayed if you need help figuring out where it's trying to store the images.
I granted full permissions to the "Network Service" account and I was on my way! I put an image in this post to show that it works! It was as easy as dragging the image in from the desktop and pressing publish! This really makes my life easy.
