I was driving my new PRO-Pulse RC car down the road when one of the storm drains jumped out in front of me. The car quickly disappeared. Luckily, I was able to remove the drain cover, and use a metal rake to pick up the car.
Amazingly, the car was completely undamaged. I should have stopped at that point.
I drove it around for a while, jumping it off the curb. At some point, I broke the front right shock. I noticed the oil leaking out, and the spring doesn't hold the suspension up on that side anymore. Luckily, you can get a set of replacement shocks. The trick is finding a place to get them. The local RadioShack stores are out.
Worse yet, while I was driving, the car mysteriously stopped driving forward and backward. The steering control still worked. After a few moments, it started working again, and I was able to drive it around a few more minutes. Then, it failed for good. At this point, I have steering but nothing else.
My multimeter revealed that the motor isn't getting any power, so the prime suspect is a broken ESC (Electric speed control).
Tomorrow I'll be giving the manufacturer a call (Megatech).
At least I can take it back to the store for a replacement if I really need to.
